Back from BSC
Last year I got accepted by the HPCEuropa 3 program for a research visit at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. So I finally had the opportunity to go this past February, when I spent five weeks working with Dr. Oriol Lehmkuhl and his team. The premise of my visit was research of Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) methods and application to airfoil and aircraft in stall.
I tried to make the most of it by communicating with Oriol and his coworker Daniel Pastrana in advance, exchanging code and defining what to do. Five weeks is a short time, but the people at BSC were extremely accomodating and helped me get up to speed quickly. Of course, I got to do the obligatory visit of the Mare Nostrum 4 machine which is installed inside an old chapel.
While this was one of the coldest winters of the recent years in northern Spain, I got to enjoy the city. It is truly a great place to visit, and although I had been there before staying there alone for some time gives you a different perspective.
I will need to summarize what I’ve been doing there in a follow up post.
